A former Baker McKenzie partner has set up his own boutique law firm focusing on international trade.
William Marshall was the head of Baker McKenzie’s international trade and commerce practice for Hong Kong and China between 2013 and 2016, before leaving to lead the Asia Pacific customs and global trade practice at Deloitte.
His new boutique, William Marshall & Co, will focus on international trade regulatory and related supply chain commercial matters.
From 2002 to 2008 Marshall worked for international trade firm Grunfeld Desiderio Lebowitz Silverman & Klestadt in New York, before moving to Hong Kong as senior director and legal counsel for Abercrombie & Fitch. He then spent a year as Of Counsel in DLA Piper’s Hong Kong office before joining Bakers.
Hong Kong remains the most popular base for international firms’ Asia practice, playing host to the largest number of partners in the Top 50 international firms in the region, but Singapore is closing the gap, research by The Lawyer revealed last year.
